MIND
BLIND SPOTS

Knowing when to put your head down and focus and when
to take a look around is a true art to master!
Imagine this: A racehorse, blinkers on, charging full speed towards the finish line.
Because of the horse’s blinkers, it can’t see any other horses, and its only focus is to win!
However, what's useful for a racehorse might not be so useful for you and me.
We're all gunning for our goals, and sometimes, we slap on those blinkers, get laser-focused on the prize, and... boom!
We're blind to everything else.
Health, happiness, the works. We've got these giant blindspots and don't even know it!
Being Mr. or Ms. Focus 24/7 can be like driving down life's highway with a paper bag over your head!
The world's spinning and changing, and you're just straight-lining it to... where exactly?
So, what's the play here?
How do we stay dialled in without missing the big stuff?
Here's my three-step game plan:
Check Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself: Regularly hit the pause button and look around. Are you blowing off important stuff? Ignoring good advice? Are you missing the boat on the important things in your life, such as friends and family?
Stay Bendy: The folks who kill it in life are the ones who can zig when everyone else zags. Keep your mind open. Learn, rethink, and switch gears when you need to.
Get a Bunch of Different Eyes on Your Stuff: Talk to mentors, work buddies, and even the haters. They've got angles you haven't even thought of.
The key here is balance!
Know when to be that racehorse, eyes on the prize, and when to lift those blinkers and see the whole track.
That's how you win the real race… Life.
Takewaway: Narrow focus speeds you up, wide vision takes you further.

BODY
BEYOND THE COMFORT ZONE
It felt awesome being a beginner at something new again this weekend!
Last weekend, I entered my first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament.
Just nine months into learning the sport, and there I was, feeling like my stomach was about to do backflips.
You know what's crazy?
It's that feeling right before you do something that scares the crap out of you. That's where the magic happens.
It's not about winning or becoming the next Jiu-Jitsu champ. It’s about that moment of "Oh shit, what did I just sign up for?"
So, my challenge to you is this…
You need to find your own “Oh shit” moment.
It could be anything - running a 5k, crawling through a ditch in a Tough Mudder, or swimming in open water where you can't see the bottom.
The point is, it should freak you out a bit. That’s the good stuff!
This isn’t just about getting fit or showing off. It’s about proving to yourself that you can do the things that make you go, “fuck, I can’t do that.”
(Spoiler alert: you can)
The biggest takeaway?
It's not about crossing the finish line or getting the medal…
It's about the butterflies in your stomach, the sweat on your brow, and that insane rush when you realise you're doing the thing you thought you couldn’t.
So, what’s your “Oh shit” challenge going to be?
Go find it. Trust me, it's a game-changer.
Takeaway: Fear conquered is achievement unlocked; go and seek your 'Oh shit' experience.

CONFESSIONS OF AN INTROVERT

I’m so good at social distancing
I started before it was cool...
Quick confession: I hate talking to strangers.
Shocking, right?
Considering I'm the guy always yapping about communication in videos and newsletters.
I get social anxiety, just like a ton of people. Weird for a guy who’s all about chatting for a living, huh?
I’ve been challenging myself to improve it this year, and here's my secret weapon…
Every Thursday, I hit the local spa. Sounds chill, but here’s the twist.
Every time someone new walks in the sauna, I've got to spark up a conversation. It’s my personal challenge.
And honestly? When I hear someone open the door, a part of me says, “Please, don't come in!” 😂
But the second they step in, it’s game time!
And guess what? It’s way easier than it sounds.
My go-to line? “Are you here for the day or a member?” Boom. Conversation started. Every. Single. Time.
So, why spill the beans on this?
Natural conversation is a skill, not some magic trait you're born with. If you're like me and it doesn't come easy, you've got to work on it. It’s crucial.
Getting good at sparking chats opens doors you didn't even know existed. It’s a life skill that needs practice, just like any other.
The sauna? It’s my battleground. It's like a mini training session; no one sticks around for long, so it’s low risk and a high reward.
So, what’s your sauna?
Find that spot where you can push your conversation skills, and I promise you more opportunities will come your way.
Takeaway: Regular social challenges can turn weaknesses into unexpected strengths.

A FLING OR THE REAL THING?

Ever started something new only to ditch it after a few months?
I had a great question from someone this week…
“How can I differentiate between a temporary interest and a genuine life purpose?”
So, you've picked up a new interest or hobby or maybe considered a career change. Awesome!
Here’s the important question…
Is this a passing phase, or are you staring at your true calling?
It’s like figuring out if you just fancy someone or ready to put a ring on it.
So, let's break it down into three simple steps to find out:
The Test of Time: Think longevity. Is your interest something hanging around for a while, like that comfy old t-shirt you can't throw out? Or is it more like a trendy hat you’ll wear for a season? Your true calling is usually the one that’s in for the long haul.
Deep Dive into Passion: How deep are your feelings about it? If it's your real deal, it's like your favourite pizza – you love it every time, no matter how often you have it. If it’s just a phase, it might be more like a snack you crave now and then.
Life Decisions: This one's big. Does this interest sway your major life decisions? Think of it like this: If your interest was a GPS, is it taking you on a cross-country adventure or just a quick trip to Tesco?
Remember, it’s okay if your interests change over time. That’s part of the journey.
The key is to enjoy exploring and be honest about what makes you tick.
Whether it’s a phase or your true calling, each experience has value. So, embrace that new interest and see where it leads!
Takeaway: Deep, lasting interests often steer life's major choices and paths.
TLDR
👉 MIND: Think you're a racehorse with blinkers on, gunning for that finish line? Hold up. This intense focus could mean missing out on the big picture - like health and happiness. Know when to charge ahead and lift those blinkers to see everything around you. That's how you win the game of life.
👉 BODY: Jumping into a Jiu-Jitsu tournament taught me one big thing: Embrace those gut-wrenching, "Oh shit" moments. They're not about winning medals but about winning against your doubts. Chase those moments; they're where you discover what you're made of.
👉 CONNECTION: Hate small talk? Me too. But here's a trick: challenge yourself. I do it in the sauna, sparking chats with strangers. It's not about being a natural; it's practice. Find your "sauna" and level up your skills.
👉 DIRECTION: Wondering if your new hobby is a fling or forever? Test its staying power, depth of passion, and influence on life choices. It's all about finding what genuinely fires you up. Dive in and see where it leads!
