THE F*CK IT BUTTON

We’ve all done it.

Gone over our calories...

Then said “f*ck it” and devoured a large Domino’s

Promised we wouldn’t drink…

Then sank six pints because “Well, the day’s already screwed.”

Missed a workout…

So we skipped the whole week and vowed to “start again Monday.”

That, my friend, is the infamous F*ck It Button.

It’s the psychological equivalent of getting one flat tyre, then getting out to slash the other three out of spite!

The “fuck it” button feels like freedom.

But it’s really self-sabotage in a party hat.

You tend to press it when:

  • You’re not perfect

  • You feel behind

  • You’re stressed, tired, or overwhelmed

  • You “break” a rule you made for yourself

Instead of adjusting course?

You detonate the route!

But Here’s the Twist...

There is a time to press the button.

When it means breaking perfectionism’s grip.

Like quitting the gym you secretly hate and sprinting hills in the woods instead.

Or applying for a job you feel underqualified for.

In those moments?

The “fuck it” button isn’t failure.

It’s a fuse..

A catalyst…

A full-body exhale.

Used intentionally, it propels you forward.

Used emotionally, it wrecks your progress.

Here’s how you keep it from using you:

  1. Spot Your Triggers

When are you most likely to press it?

After a long day? Mid-boredom spiral? Right after scrolling Instagram?

  2. Label the Moment

Literally say, “I’m about to press the fuck it button.”

That pause gives your logical brain a fighting chance.

  3. Use the 2-Minute Rule

Before you act, do one helpful thing for 2 minutes.

Walk. Breathe. Stretch. Text someone who gives a shit.

  4. Build a Better Backup Plan

Messed up one meal? Make the next one decent.

Skipped the gym? Stretch for 10 minutes at home.

    Small wins stop spirals.

The “fuck it” button isn’t evil…

But it’s not your friend, either.

Train yourself to press it with purpose

not out of panic.

Because progress isn’t ruined by a wobble…

It’s ruined when we decide that one slip means burn it all down.

You’re not a robot.

You’re human.

You’re allowed moments of imperfection

without the self-destruction.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s Knowledge Bomb.

See you next week for another instalment.
