RM40: Built for Men Over 40 Who Refuse to Slow Down

Most fitness plans weren’t made for men in their 40s. They’re either too intense, too generic, or completely ignore the reality of getting older.

That’s why I built RM40, a 16-week transformation programme designed exclusively for men over 40 who want to:

 Rebuild strength and fitness
 Move better and stay pain-free
 Master their nutrition without extremes
 Maintain results for life

If you’re tired of quick fixes and ready for a smarter, sustainable approach to getting in the best shape of your life, this is it!

Living La Dolce Vita

Forget yachts, Aperol spritzes, and sun-drenched selfies, the good life isn’t what Instagram promised you.

In Italy, they call it La Dolce Vita — “the sweet life.”

Coined in post-war Rome and immortalised by a 1960 film, La Dolce Vita has since been reduced to a hashtag.

A glossy ideal pinned to mood boards and Instagram captions, stripped of its soul.

But if you're in your 40s, juggling work, kids, bills, and a creaky knee that acts up when it rains…

La Dolce Vita isn’t about lounging on the Amalfi coast with perfect lighting and a €17 cocktail…

It’s about building a rich, present, deeply satisfying life right where you are.

Here’s how to do it (no passport required!)

#1. Slow Down to Speed Up

You can't think straight if you're always rushing.

You can’t solve problems while drowning in them.

And you definitely can’t appreciate life if you’re too busy to notice it.

How to fix it:

Start the day without your phone. Make a cup of coffee. Sit outside. Breathe. Give your brain a moment of silence before the madness begins.

Quality over chaos — every time.

#2. Good Food, Good Company

You don’t need a five-star restaurant.

Just a decent meal, a few close mates, and a bellyful of laughs.

How to fix it:

Plan a monthly dinner. Roast chicken, red wine, board games — whatever feels warm and easy. No macros. No phones. Just real connection.

Life’s too short to eat sad food alone.

#3. Take Care of the Machine

Don’t train to impress.

Train to move freely. To carry a surfboard at 75. To lift your grandkids.

Longevity is the real flex.

How to fix it:

Forget aesthetics — chase ability. Train for energy, for fun, for the long game.

Your future self will thank you (with fewer physio appointments).

#4. Be Present

You can’t pause your kid’s childhood.

You can’t rewind a conversation with your partner.

But you can pause Netflix and put your phone down.

How to fix it:

Schedule daily tech-free time. Ditch the phone at dinner. Take walks without earbuds. Journal. Meditate.

Actually be where you are — before the moment’s gone.

#5. Choose Financial Freedom Over Flexing

More stuff doesn’t make you rich. Memories do.

And the best ones don’t come from Louis Vuitton…

They come from caravan parks, dodgy dance routines, and seaside chips in the rain.

How to fix it:

Spend on experiences, not ego. Book the weekend away. Take the silly trip. Laugh until you wheeze.

Memories are assets. Flexing is a liability.

#6. Build Something That Matters

The good life isn’t endless margaritas on a beach.

It’s waking up with purpose.

It’s building something — a body, a business, a life you’re proud of.

That fire? It makes everything else taste sweeter.

How to fix it:

If you don’t know what you’re building, start with you.

Track your habits. Set a small goal. Then another.

Clarity doesn’t come first — consistency does.

La Dolce Vita isn’t about having more…

It’s about having meaning.

It’s your morning brew in silence.

It’s your kid's sticky fingers and wild laughter.

It’s laughing until your stomach hurts.

It’s lifting something heavy and feeling strong.

It’s knowing you’re building something real.

And one day, when you’re older, sun on your face, stories in your bones, and nothing left to prove…

You’ll know you lived it!

I hope you enjoyed this week’s Knowledge Bomb.

See you next week for another instalment.
