The Simple Secret to Finding Your Path
Imagine this…
You’re 90 years old, sitting in your favourite chair, looking out at a garden you’ve spent years tending.
The sunlight filters through the trees, and the air is calm.
Life has slowed down, offering you the gift of reflection.
As you sit there, what comes to mind?
Do you feel the satisfaction of a life well-lived?
The joy of pursuing your passions?
The pride of deep connections with loved ones?
Or… do you feel the pang of regret?
Dreams left unexplored?
Opportunities missed?
Time spent on things that didn’t truly matter?
The right direction in life isn’t found in endless searching or chasing the approval of others.
It’s simpler than that. It begins with one powerful question:
“What would my 90-year-old self regret the most?”
Would they regret…
Letting fear hold them back from chasing a dream?
Staying in a comfort zone instead of taking a leap of faith?
Worrying too much and laughing too little?
This exercise isn’t about dwelling on regret…
It’s about finding clarity.
Think of your life like a garden.
The choices you make today are the seeds you plant for tomorrow.
Will they grow into something your older self will look at with pride and gratitude?
Or will you wish you had planted something different sooner?
Take a moment to pause and reflect.
Ask yourself these two questions…
What am I doing now that my future self will thank me for?
What am I not doing that might lead to regret?
If the answers aren’t what you’d hoped for, here’s the good news
The garden of your life isn’t finished yet.
You can start planting new seeds today.
The best time to change might have been a few years ago.
But the second best time is right now.
Picture yourself back in that chair, years from now, smiling at a garden of a life well-tended.
The laughter, the risks, the moments of courage.
Each one is a flower blooming in the sunlight.
So my final question is this…
Which seeds will you plant today?
I hope you enjoyed this week’s Knowledge Bomb.
See you next week for another instalment.
